DEVOTIONS FOR November 23-28, 2009

Topic:  R.O.A.R. – Remembering Our Awesome Redeemer

Giving Praise and Thanks to God

Devotions Archive

Spend time with the devotions this week.  Read the Scriptures and then think how you can apply them to your life.

 MONDAY November 23

Look up and read Psalm 18:1-3

“I love you, O Lord, my strength.  The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.  He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.  I call to the Lord, who is worthy of praise, and I am saved from my enemies.”  Spend some time in prayer today thanking God that He is the source of your strength and deliverer from evil because He is worthy to be praised.

TUESDAY November 24

Look up and read Psalm 8:1-2

“O Lord, our Lord how majestic is your name in all the earth!  You have set your glory above the heavens.  From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.”  Pray today thanking God for how majestic His name is.  Thank Him for His glory and ask that His praise will always be on our lips to silence Satan and his attempts.

WEDNESDAY November 25

Look up and read Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.  He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”  Meditate over this Psalm today and thank God for His guidance and that He is with us at all times especially when we are experiencing times of persecution and temptation.

THURSDAY November 26

Look up and read  Psalm 36:5-7

Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies.  Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains, your justice like the great deep.  O Lord, you preserve both man and beast.  How priceless is your unfailing love!  Both high and low among men find refuge in the shadow of your wings.”  Spend some time in prayer today thanking God for his unfailing love, faithfulness and justice that knows no boundaries and is priceless.

FRIDAY November 27

Look up and read Psalm 42:1-4

“As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.  My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.  When can I go and meet with God?  My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, ‘Where is your God?’  These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.”  Pray today thanking God for a soul that thirsts for Him and that you would continue to cry out to Him all your days on this earth until He returns.

SATURDAY November 28

Look up and read Psalm 100

Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.  Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.  Know that the Lord is God.  It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.  Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.  For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations.”  Meditate over this Psalm today and thank God for his creation and making his people unique and that we would shout for joy “our sound” and give praise to His name.  Thank Him for His eternal love and faithfulness which continues throughout every generation after you.
